Round 5

This prompt is for those who wish to participate in our Spectator Tournament that runs adjacent to the central OCT! Remember you can't compete in both tournaments at the same time (those knocked out of the central tournament can join in on spectator prompts, though).

Prompt - Caught in the Crossfire

As Teams Ice-Breaker and Riders did their best to combat Hoopa's Hyperspace Fury, everyone else - ex-competitor, spectator, and staff alike - was left to watch as Base Camp twisted into a dark and frightening place. Not even Sunny Day could light the dull, blackening sky, and no Grassy Terrain could cure the unnatural dryness afflicting the once-lush plants.

Occasionally, Hoopa's giant form (and those of its opponents) would make a brief appearance, darting across the desolate landscape between fleeting golden rings. Present or not, its heavy use of its newfound strength was taking a heavy toll on its pocket dimension - and worse, those in it.

With no clear resolution in sight, each Pokémon had to ask themself: what now?

Attempt to flee through a stray portal? Lend a Helping Hand in the fray? Hide until the battle was done? It was hard to muster hope, courage, or motivation... but "hard" doesn't mean "impossible".

Spectators who are gathered at the end of the Hyperspace Tournament must decide what to do in this dire situation.

This description of events may be altered to suit your entry, so long as the prompt itself is consistent.

We strongly recommend reading the finalists' Round 5 prompt (primarily the "Prompt" and "Prompt Details" sections) for a clear idea of what is going on in Base Camp - the freedoms afforded to them also apply to you!

Dimension

Base Camp, as described on our Premise page in the "Setting" section - though it has become warped in the wake of Hoopa's transformation. The details of this corruption and chaos are for you to decide. You may also feature other dimensions.

Rules

Show your characters' response to the desperate situation Base Camp finds itself in. This could involve things such as:

Because spectator entries aren't officially canon, you're free to resolve things how you'd like in your entries - i.e. what happens to Hoopa, whether its prize portal to the human world works, what happens to everyone who was knocked out along the way, etc. However, we ask you do not confirm a "result" between the finalists - i.e. don't imply that Team Ice-Breaker or Team Riders has "won" the OCT - and be mindful of their role in the story - they shouldn't be sidelined in any potential conclusion to the fight against Hoopa!

Remember that Gran and Hoopa have compulsory updates.

Submit entries (after submitting your characters to be screened, as described on our Character Creation and How to Enter pages - the process is very similar for competitors and spectators) via email to HyperspaceOCT@gmail.com (it helps us if your subject line includes "Spectator Round 5 entry").

Please keep in mind our regulations for the spectator tournament:

One additional ticket will be granted for depicting each of the following:

For details on earning base tickets with your entry, see the Spectator Tournament page. Good luck!
