Story -
Across many a dimension, the name "Hoopa" has been whispered in tales of myth and legend. But things are changing... As the number of sightings increase, it seems these stories are true - Hoopa is real. And it has something to share.
One of its rings is cracked beyond repair - damage following an attempt to breach the boundaries of the multiverse and travel to a dimension familiar to those reading this. Such a feat took a toll - but Hoopa is sure it can open the portal just once more, granting a team of two Pokémon a one-way ticket to the human world.
Now, Hoopa and its expedition teammate Merriweather want to determine which souls are worthy of such a prize.
Hyperspace follows the story of Pokémon expedition teams - each with two members - from across various timelines. Hoopa brought each to a camp in its pocket dimension to compete in the Hyperspace tournament. Rounds each take place in a dimension found through one of Hoopa's ring portals (Hyperspace Holes), and the winning team will be granted the chance to go to the human world - regardless of their motives for travelling there.
You can make characters hailing from any universe, Pokémon-related or not - just keep in mind they will be turned into Pokémon and only have canon Pokémon capabilities once in Hoopa's pocket dimension.
If your character isn't from a world of just Pokémon (like Mystery Dungeon), don't show anybody travelling to your character's home dimension through the Hyperspace Hole - just your character going through it toward Hoopa's pocket dimension. Outside similar dimensions to its native one, Hoopa can normally only create one-way portals toward itself - this is what makes the prize portal to the human world special: it can be passed through from the same side it was created.

Setting -
Between rounds, competitors can rest in Hoopa's pocket dimension ("Base Camp") - the details of its design are up to you, but:
Many berries grow there,
There is a thick forest of trees surrounding Base Camp which seems to get denser the further you walk away,
Tents, dens, and shacks can be set up to house competing expedition teams (and they can stay after being knocked out),
Grand Aid and Purrmageddon both have stalls from which they perform their duties (healing and supplies respectively).
Each round is to be held through a portal Hoopa will open when the time comes. Each prompt will provide a description of these other worlds.

Structure -
The tournament will begin with auditions, which must show expedition teams travel to the tournament's base camp through one of Hoopa's rings. It's up to you how exactly your characters' story starts!
Between this and round one, each team will be assigned a colour and given matching accessories of their choosing by Purrmageddon (more details can be found on the Character Creation page - you don't have to expressly show this in your story, but your team should wear their accessories during rounds themselves).
Round one will be an elimination round (no matchups - the top performing competitors will pass to the next round).
Round two onward (all the way to the final) will consist of various games and challenges, with each team being randomly matched against another to determine who progresses.
The tournament's exact length depends on how many competitors we get! It will be between 3 and 6 rounds (not including auditions).
